Pfizer, a drug production giant on Friday recalled five batches of its Accupril blood pressure medications after finding an elevated level of carcinogenic agents in the tablets. The drugmaker assured that no adverse event related to drug consumption has been reported in the regions where the drug was distributed so far.

Pfizer Canada also recalled three batches of the same medication, after the same impurity was found to be above acceptable levels. Pfizer clarified that nitrosamine, the carcinogenic agent found in the tablets has no immediate risk to the patient’s health.

However, the drugmaker recalled another batch of blood pressure drug Accuretic and its two authorized cheaper versions from the market due to the presence of possible cancer-causing impurity.
